March Review

Hello my lovely readers!! Welcome to My March review...I should begin with saying HAPPY APRIL 1ST!!!!! Have you thought up any tricks you'll be playing? It is April fools after all...

So way back in February I made a review post on the hings I had made and the things I planned to make In March

Here us the project list I had planned

InLinkz.com

Sadly I didn't get done the Burp Cloths-The flannels have been cut...well half of them
the HST Hexies-no progress what so ever, been sticking to the regular ones!
The Hexie pillow-I've made my own design, just need to back it1
or the Toy blocks- I've cut the squares..just need to make them up Everything else I did get done and more!

I guess you may be wondering what I want to get done this month....The quilt tops need to all be made into proper quilts....I've cut the wadding for the granny quilts so far. Everything else that isn't finished should be by the end of this month. *Fingers crossed!*.....More fabric will be ordered, cut sewn, admired and blogged about!
Hopefully I'll find some swaps to join, to share my new found knowledge with a lucky partner! I'll be sure to join some sew-alongs I can manage! Oh and I can't forget the commenting on blog posts I so happen to stumble upon!!!
So stay tuned and thank you all for putting up with me the last month....this month you'll be doing it all over again =D

1st Pleated Boxes Pillow

You may have seen my random posts about the Sew-Along.....You may also have clicked the button in the sidebar, showing you how to make a pillow of your own!
I joined in the fun as I just love making pillows...or cushions as they are better known here!

So here is my finished result

The machine really hated those pleats so they are all hand sewn....Making my second one helped me to find a better way to add the pleats in so they don't burst open when inserting the pillow form. I should have it completed tomorrow =D

What have I done today??

Now that is a good question....these pictures will help explain things better. This is the pillow for the Pleated Boxes Pillow-Sew Along.....you can find the button to the right in my sidebar....you still have 12 days to make a pillow of your own..so pop on over and get sewing!! There are prizes people PRIZES!!

This was the finished pillow before I added in the stuffing...I didn't have the proper filler so thought using some old shirts and such would work as well
Turning the pillow form case right side out...How I love this part =D
I must have added too much stuffing, though saying that the pillow still looked flat. On top of that it burst all my lovely pleats. As I'd already put the back on I couldn't machine stitch it. It was a pain removing the pillow form...good thing I hadn't stitched it closed so could pull out some of the filling
So I hand sewed it instead and this is how it looks now..I actually like the pleats better hand sewn, =D. I plan to buy some beanbag stuffing and make a nice beany pillow instead =D
I'm also in the process of making another..the one above will be for Mummy dearest for when she is studying, though she'll get it for mother's day...along with one of the pouches I've made. I'll post the fabrics for the new one...plus another sneak peak of The Hexie project tomorrow =D

Next step in the sew along

You can see the start in this post here

Since then I have completed the next step. It's not too late for you to join up to make a pillow of your own. All the steps can be found by clicking the button on the right in my sidebar and going to the main page...or you can download the pdf file  =D

My sewing machine wasn't to pleased to sew the pleats so I hand stitched them instead. They actually look better hand stitched I think =D

Progress in the Sew along

I've joined the Craft Buds Pleated Boxes Pillow sew-along which you can find the button for over in the sidebar. I just wanted to share my progress with you so far

Fabrics from a swap I won from Lisa at In The Boon Docks
The pieced strips cut into 3" squares
4 solid 3" squares and 12 white squares
My layout for the top design

With the strips to be pleated added in and sewn together. I'm surprised I'm up to date usually I'd procrastinate and not get it done, but this time I decided to make sure I wasn't behind =D

I also want to add that I still have this trade open if anyone is interested please let me know =D
