150 posts GIVEAWAY!!!

This is not my official 150th post, but It's good to start a giveaway at the beginning of the week. I have 1 more post to go then it will be official.

Before I tell you about the giveaway. Here's what I got up to today

I've seen appliqued blocks floating around blog land and I wanted to try my had at one too. Here are a few I've been inspired by 1. Danny 2. Lynne 3.Maureen.
I'm going to try out my own. Just something random using raindrop/paisley pieces in various sizes and prints.

I then tried a layout for the first circular pillow I'll be making this week. Red GAH!!!

Oh have you ever tried homemade apple and pear crumble with a fruit yogurt instead of custard? (in my case the soya kind)

  8. 1. My boring blog name came about because I have no imagination.
    2. I began blogging to document the process of creating my sewing room out of a corner of our basement. We finished the basement last year so I now have a wonderful sewing room. No more clearing off a table to have a place to sew and constantly having to put my projects away because there was no room to work.
    3. I currently live in Richmond, Kentucky, USA. I am a native of Michigan but moved here three years ago for my job.
Thanks for the giveaway. I enjoy reading your blog.

  11. I live in Oklahoma. I started blogging in July 2010. This was after my sweet mother lost her 5 year battle with cancer. I had more time on my hands and wanted to get back into quilting. I have always liked to journal, and so keeping a journal of my quilting journey through blogging was the perfect way for me to combine sewing/quilting and journaling : ) And that is why I call my blog.... Pieceful Life....get it?

I am one of your lovely followers : )

  12. I think my blog name is pretty self explanatory- Retired to Quilt! Not all that inventive, but it made sense to me! I started it about a year ago, after I had been quilting for a year. I live in Canada. Thanks for a lovely giveaway.

  13. Let's see... I say "for reals" a lot so "Mommy For Reals" just felt right. I started blogging when I had my daughter. I worked full time plus before I had her and I was pretty scared about how I would cope with being home by myself with her for so many hours. I thought for sure I would be bored out of my mind (SOOOO not the case!!) so I decided to start a blog. It was a split decision thing and I've been rolling with it ever since. Turned out I blog more about sewing than Mommy-ing, but that's ok. I still think my blog name is sufficient. And I am in Gilbert, Arizona, USA, which you should know since I send you stuff all the time!!

    1. I am really impatient, and when I decide to do something, I tend to do it *right now* - so I didn't have time to think of a better name!
    2. I started sewing and blogging nearly a year ago, when I started to make presents for my new niece and nephew.
    3. As you can tell by my blog name, I live in London, in the northern suburbs. I'm a northerner by birth so I feel more comfy in the northern bit!

  15. Congrats on hitting 150!

    1. I chose my blog name, becrafted, because I've done crafts all my life and I thought it was a cute play on words.
    2. I started blogging in October 2011 when I returned to quilting after a hiatus of several years. I knew I needed to do something other than work, work, work, and since quilting always relaxed me, I decided to start a blog to keep me motivated to continue. As I get older, I get more easily distracted. :)
    3. I live in the suburbs of Queens, one of the boroughs of NYC. It's close enough to Manhattan when I want to see a show or go shopping, but far enough to be in quiet, comfortable surroundings.

  20. Congratulations on 150 posts - wow!
    1. My blog is the same name as my Flickr name. I chose that when I was trying to think of a username and looked in the conservatory to see Archie in what I always thought of as his 'superman' pose. 'Archie the wonder dog' sounded better than 'Archie the super dog'! There's a photo of that pose (and a bit more detail) at http://aroundtheblockdesigns.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/name-game-archie-wonder-dog.html
    2. I started blogging last August after Nicky (Mrs Sew&Sow) gently suggested I start a blog...and kept on suggesting until I caved! (To be fair to Nicky I had thought about it before but wasn't convinced I would like it/anyone else would read it!)
    3. I live in the north-east of England, on the coast, where it's often breezy and the fret regularly rolls in...I love it though!
Thanks for a wonderful giveaway and all your lovely comments on my blog!

  22. Can I start off by saying I ADORE Maureen's quilt - it's so cool. :) Her fabric choices are very "me" so I think she should send it to me! lol.
Congrats on hitting 150! I just hit 500 this week and thought about a giveaway but was too tired to do it. lol. Sometime this summer I'm sure.

1.What inspired you to choose your blog name? As you'll see in the next question I started blogging about 3 years ago - when my daughter was just a few months old. I blogged and sewed during nap time thus Mommy's nap time. I could have managed to google it first though, there are several mom+nap+sewing blogs out there so we get confused sometimes.
2.When and why did you start blogging? I started blogging because I started quilting. When I started quilting I became immersed into the modern quilting blogs (Ohfransson, Sewmamasew, crazymomquilts, etc) and I found community on flickr. Both things seemed to push me to become a blogger. Ultimately I love to write nearly as much as I love to sew. So it all works out well.
3.What part of the world do you live in? I live in the Chicago-land area USA. :)

  24. Hi Cherie, almost missed your giveaway! I have barely been online for days. Here are my answers:
    1. When I started my blog, I had no idea what to call it. But then I thought about my new love, quilting; my love of an old fashioned British Tea, and the fact that I might use my blog to help inspire me to lose weight. Quilting, Losing and Tea just sounded nice. :)
    2. I started blogging shortly before you did. Quilting blogs had helped me get through a tough time in my life the summer before, and started a creative spark in me that I didn't know was possible.
    3. I live in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

  25. Hi there, I m just investigating your blog, and came on this- sop I thought I would say Hi anyway, and give you answers, just because.
    1. My daughter gave me a silly name, reasons lost in the mists of time, and then my other daughter and I got sewing, On a quilt top. And following other blogs, and felt it would be good to record what I was doing. So the name appeared from that.
2.I got started last summer. I had previously done a bit of blogging about the garden, to record for myself, when and what appeared. But,the sewing was taking over, and I needed a different place for that. So, mammafairy sews came to life.
    3. I am also in the UK. June is living up to its ideal? Or perhaps not!

  27. Is it still open? Sorry I've been so tired with jetlag I've been offline all week pretty much. Hmmmm blog name. I started blogging in mid 2010 just before I had Abbie. Back then I called it mummas time to create because that's essentially what I planned to blog about. After a year or so I decided to rename to diary of a flutter.Kat because it felt more like a diary. The flutter part it firstly because I love butterflies but secondly to signify how I flit from one thing to the next and get bored easily. Bet most people don't realize that!
I live in Perth Australia. Hope I didn't miss one. Congrats on your blogging 150 posts :)
