The stars are bright tonight.....

It's only me again with yet more finishes to share. I'm running out of things to make now! My WIP pile is going down....anyone have some quick makes they would like to share?  Comment them here. =1 Here it's 10pm so my title makes sense in this part of the world!

I started these when I was recovering from my operation. I was bored during the day and these passed the time perfectly/ Mind you the shapes were already basted...it was just the case of sewing...more sewing....stuffing....even more sewing....buttoning and they were done!
I do love pincushions and they can be made in such fun shapes!

I've rambled long enough....See you all later

Cherie! =]

Oh button it!!

Today was spent with a morning of lazing on the chair watching Chronicle I'd give it a 7 out of 10 and that's being generous. I didn't really get what the point was to the movie at all. It was made in a documentary style filming technique, so the movie was shaky and hard to focus on. The storyline itself was let down and again didn't have any real focus. It could have been better thought out, but alas it wasn't. There was a little action towards the end of the movie, but other than that a rather flat movie. Watch it if you want to get your own idea of it. Maybe you can come back and tell me what you thought of it.

After the movie, lunch and talking to Mother I started on closing up the cushions and sewing in the buttons. I have 10 completed so far so just 10 more for buttons. (they are so tricky to put in!) The heart ones are also stitched up, they are 12" in size.

I had to shift some things around so I could stack these without anything being stuck under them. Seeing them piled up almost makes me want to keep them all for myself! I have a few spare wedges so maybe I'll make myself up a few for that future house....

The cake has a nice flavour too it. I think maybe next time I'll use less poppy seeds, I like them yes but there are too many in the cake. The cinnabuns are still a big hit! Even the Older Giant has eaten some and he doesn't generally like cinnamon!

I'll hopefully get those pillows finished tomorrow as well as making pizza for dinner. Coin purses are on the plans next, the scraps are still laid out for them. Have some swap items to make too and send off.

Siya'll tomorrow =D

Atchoooooooooooooo Atchoooooooooooo!!!

Either I have really bad hay fever today..or the makings of a bad cold. Curse you UK weather.

This morning my Father came in to give me my mail. He was more excited than I was to open it...he even handed me the scissors to cut the envelope open....(the wrong ones HAH!)
I got my parcel from the ALFALC Swap all the way from Portugal!
Cherry chocolate, 3 FQ's of fabric, a cute scented pillow, some buttons and ribbon.

However despite all the sneezing etc I managed to get some sewing done. Jano was cast to the side and the needle and thread were pulled out instead. Searching through my Perle cotton stash I pulled  four colours out in preparation. Red, blue, green and orange.

I got to work on hand quilting that surprise quilt. This time Father was downstairs so I managed to sneak into his room to borrow the bed for pinning. I now know the importance of using a lot of pins!

First two blocks done orange and green Perle cotton

I've done four blocks, using the green and orange! Only 2 more to go then the binding...which I feel too lazy to do...the backing is wide enough...I may just fold it over to the front, after trimming the excess wadding and POW instant binding!

Mother came in from work and graced me with some good news! 2 ladies at her work place have requested me to make them a make up bag, after seeing them here on my blog! Mother gave me the details and then disaster. I asked her to pull out my fabric draw...instead of moving the table in front of it, that holds my WIPs she pulled them forward instead-knocking over my piles of HST's..Luckily they dropped in one place. She left after helping me find the ones that had dropped further and counting them to make sure none were missing.

I ummed and ahhed about which fabrics to use until eventually deciding and cutting without second thought!
The picture is dark for a reason..

So tomorrow the quilt may be finished..those pouches will be started..I see now I haven't pulled out any zips FOOL!

Siya'll tomorrow =D

Just Stamp it out!

Let's go back in time for a moment. Back to Friday to be exact.

Before we left I got my parcel from Sticky Tiger Supplies in the mail! I ordered some stamps, fabric glue, ink, a tag pad, two fabric pens and an acrylic block for the stamps.

In the car on my journey I got on with sewing up my next MAM hexie panel, I got four rows done before the journey ended. 3 more to sew.

Yesterday after we got back from shopping I tried out my new stamps
The stamp was larger than I expected it to be. Too large for my sewing kits!

So I went with the larger button stamp instead, for the pincushions, which still need to be stuffed...

After stamping I started making magnets for the next round of the RATZ Swap...well trying them out to see if they would work.
They started as 5" squares I cut them down to quarters

Make note it is easier to insert the magnet after you have turned it right side out....unless you leave a big enough turning gap!

This morning before the Sunday Brunch I got on with some more stamping. I used the butterfly stamp on half of the sewing kits and the other half I used the birdie stamp.

After brunch I had a fun idea to turn my magnets also into pincushions. So now I have mini magnet pincushions.
I bought a very cheap baking sheet to use as my magnet board.

I used the scraps left over from the pouches, plus some solid scraps to make them. The backs were 2.5" squares I had left over from granny block making.

I just have to sew up the edges....or maybe I'll use the fabric glue...or my good friend Hemming Web. Not all of them will be for my swap partner though....

Today is the last day to enter my GIVEAWAY. The people who have already entered your names have been jotted down and put in the....(camera case for safe keeping)....Anyone else who enters between now and the drawing will be entered too.

The prizes are underway..The pouch is done. I just have to stuff the pincushions and they'll be ready to go to lucky winners. The secret item is also made!

Well that's all from me. Siya'll tomorrow =D

Swap Shop! and a Disappearing act...

Today marks the opening of my blog Swap Shop! In my top bar you'll see the tab for it. Click here for more information =D
It was easier to make a page so they're all neatly in one place than post and they get lost with new entries.

Today was a slow day actually. I managed to get some cutting and sewing done. I was laying out my disappearing 16 patches all ready to make another 2 quilt tops. Looking at the size I thought hmmmm these should be longer, so they can be used for lap quilts instead of baby quilts. So temporarily I added 6 more blocks to them. I liked the length and the width was perfect! (sorry no pictures).
I didn't have any more of the original squares I used left so I decided to use my gingham and solid fabrics to make 6 more large blocks, which when cut and re-sewn would give me the 12 extra I needed.

Here's how they turned out and all cut and ready to sew up again!

The colours 7 3" squares of each

The blocks. I tried to mix the going to be center blocks as evenly as possible so when cut they wouldn't match too much
The 2nd block was sewn with an error....since it's being cut I wasn't to bothered to change it

At the cutting mat.The sneaky cutter getting in....he was absent for the last picture. No I haven't trimmed the edges..which is very important to do!

Looking in the kitchen I found a tin for all my buttons and notions =D

Well that's it from me today...maybe tomorrow will be a tad more productive.....I'll be making plans for the Carnival too =D

Thursday, 12 April 2012

It's Carnival time!!

OK maybe not quite yet..It's actually not until July....Mother came into my room and told me about it. She said I should make some things and sell them at a stall with Father dearest...He'll be making some cakes and such for his side of our potential stall
We just have to find out all the details...how much the stall costs, dates etc, but hey it's not a bad idea.
Just thinking what will I make.....Any idea's ladies and gents...my quilts are for the future business....though I could make some alternate ones.... I'd mainly be making a few things to see what sells the best. Idea's for prices. Help and suggestions would be fantastic! I'm over in the UK just to let you know....

So this morning I set out early to go to the Hairdressers.....8.30am early....I got there just after 9...another girl turned up there too-My hairdresser styles from her house- she went before me as she was supposed to be there at 8!! So I waited patiently for 2 hours! During that time another lady showed up. Luckily she wasn't getting anything fancy done so our hair could be alternated, washing, conditioning....she left and I was still there...I was there until just after 4!!! Yes you are reading correctly!
All I can say is Cane/corn rows hurt!!!!
The top

Right side..the clip is loose to ease the pain!

The left side

From the front...yes that's me!

When I got home there was a parcel waiting for me!! It was full, well not full... in fact the envelope was rather big compared to what was in it....however it will come in handy real soon! Back to the contents....these pictures will show you better =D BUTTONS!!!!

I know all you button lovers out there may be sitting with your jaws dropped right now! I got these from craft superstore..some may be sold out sorry ladies! =D

I also got this ribbon from the site too £1.00 for a 3m roll

These were the more quirky buttons in each bag Mother even came to have a nose...was fun picking them out

My button box got a little full....

But my younger giant brought me a new container.

I finished the 2nd row and started on the 3rd..had I not have been called for dinner I would have finished that off!..no sewing after dinner..just blogging and reading

Well ladies and gents that was my day..=D
