Fat 16th Projects

Hi everyone just me again. I have a bunch of Fat 16th's they are such an odd size I never know what to make with them. Does anyone have any good ideas or tutorials that feature the use of them? If so please leave a link in the comments.

Feeling a little stuck...

I feel like I haven't written in ages. I used to keep a diary and I'd write in it everyday without fail...Then that changed to a HahahaLOL book where I'd write in it when the mood struck me or something particularly interesting happened. I then started to blog and could add pictures of what I had made almost a virtual online diary. Since work happened I haven't been writing much at all. I haven't even been reading as much as I used to. Work seems to have taken over a little more than I expected. I really just want to sew. Make a few dozen things and actually get a chance to finish them. I have projects I want to make and have a lack of motivation to both start and finish them.
 I guess I just feel a little stuck.... I've finally opened my Etsy Shop

 I've listed things in there that I've made over the past couple of years and finally gotten around to taking pictures of and creating a listing for them. I figured now was as good a time as any to finally be brave enough to open it. I've been meaning to for years and life and my heath have got in the way. There is no guarantee anything will sell, but you don't know until it's out there and you just have to take that chance...


The one thing I don't have listed is quilts. I start to make them. I finish the quilt top and then it's the finishing the quilt that always takes me forever. I'll tell myself I'll finish it that weekend and then I don't because something will get in the way. I love the making of the quilt tops, the cutting of the fabric. One thing I don't do is binding. I find it so tedious and the few times I have done it I regret adding it on. So now I just don't bother.

I won't lie and say I've been awfully busy. In truth I spend a lot of time procrastinating as I'm not sure what to do next.... HELP!?

Charmed I'm sure

2 posts in two days...a new record for me at the moment. I said I had some behind the scenes projects to show and here is the start of them. A few weeks before the operation... I thought I should probably start using my fabric rather than storing it in the few too little boxes I have. I thought start slow then work up to the FQ's.......... so Charm squares it was...

I did some rough sketches knowing at least the colour scheme to each quilt...RAINBOW!!!

I like making even numbers of things and two just didn't feel ambitious enough at the time, so it became four. I did in the end change around some of the fabrics to make the colours stand out a lot better. Those sketches soon became quilt tops.

I did consider adding a border to the top edge, but upon choosing the backing fabrics I decided not to.

I also found some other quilts that needed finishing...remember these?

My DP16 quilt tops. I made them about TWO years ago and never actually finished them as I was going to do just a plain backing. Then decided against it. They are also on the WIP pile to actually finish. 

I even found some other quilts also from two years ago that when I looked at them I realised I could never sell them as the binding looks horrendous! I wouldn't even be happy to give them to anyone as a gift.

I am thinking to chop off the borders and binding and re-backing them in another fabric, with no binding what so ever...... The first quilt in the top picture is yet to be finished...I'm still hand quilting it...some two years on.......it seemed like a brilliant idea then........

Decisions decisions....I'm hoping for some finishes this month. I have the backing fabrics for the Rainbow quilts and the DP16 quilts..alls needing is to finish them off!!

Also to finish is another sneaky project....

May Review!

The first day of the month and some new goodies already.
I went out today and a shop I love going into every time I go to town was having a closing down/relocation sale. Luckily they are just moving to the shop next door! I picked up these goodies, yes there is one in the picture, but I bought 7 of them. they were a pound each!

All ready to add my rainbow scraps to..once I cut them to decent sizes and sort through them that is...

I then popped into WHS and found these magazines! One I saw on Lynnes blog, it was hidden behind an load of other magazines!

I got the leather cord in the post this morning so moved to the next step of the Zakka Style sewing kits

I need to turn the rest right side out..and the pincushions..get some stamps, iron, stuff, sew up and done!

The great Disappearing Act

Today was a great sewing day..mail day but not so much movie day!

In the mail this morning I received this! Bought Here....I notice the price has dropped by 2p!!

The Older Giant and I sat and watched Haywire. To be fair I thought with the glowing reviews that it would be much better. My rating for it is 2 out of 5. For all movies I see I'd say watch them for yourselves and see whether or not you like it. It might be your kind of movie or it may not be. 

After the movie I finally made a start on the Disappearing 16 patch quilt I've had sitting for some time waiting to be sewn (cough since march cough!) I had all the blocks made and the sashing all prepared...I was just busy making other things....So here is the first quilt top

I have another one to do, the blocks are cut as well as the sashing for the blocks....just not to go around it. I thought not going with too much white. The blue fabric is a bed sheet I got at a charity shop. The white is actually also a bed sheet! (yes at times I can be a cheapskate!). 

It went together pretty quickly. Gotta love chain piecing. I'll maybe have it backed and ready for quilting by the end of the week....but most of you know me by now and I like to have various projects on the go!

I'm making another quilt for myself as I still have some MAM prints left....I may also make a scrappy bag too....and a pouch to go inside the bag.....So if anyone has some great bag tutorials they'd like to share it would be much appreciated =D

More Trips to the post office!!

The people at the post office are going to get sick of seeing me! So glad I can get 4 packages posted off tomorrow though so maybe they won't have to see me for a while.

It's been great fun seeing all the fabrics people have from different parts of the world!! Sending 2 packages to the USA and 2 to Australia!! I'll be waiting patiently for my packages to arrive. Next month is going to be interesting!

However it's still March. I still have yet to decide which project to use for

I just got my order from The Fat Quarter shop!!! pictures will be up tomorrow! I'll be using some of my order for 

I still have a week left so I need to get my Sew on! Good thing I wont be at work next week!! hopefully I can get 2 more quilts done by the end of the month, as well as finishing up my 2 Hexie projects!!
I also managed to get finished 4 of the blue/green Granny Square blocks!

Some of the corner pieces are slightly askew! Hopefully they neaten up when I trim the edges! Tomorrow will be the last blue/green block and make a dent in the red/orange/yellow =D

I still have yet to finish the baby quilts, which will be done this weekend. Finish the hexie panel...also to be done this weekend. Then that'll leave me with the rest of the month so sew like crazy!!
