Keeping things Chilled

So lately I've been feeling really tired and like I have no energy what so ever. I'm already anaemic, but thought I should maybe do something do give myself a boost. Mother Dearest got her blender out of the cupboard, so I thought making some smoothies would add a bit more fruit to my diet and get me away from snacking on rubbish. Father then went out and brought a Nutri Ninja!

So far so good this month in the smoothie world

Day 1.Berry Vanilla Smoothie- Nice, but I think I may sieve it next time as it was very seedy.....
Day 2&3. Pear, apple and Banana Smoothie (as I made toooo much) - may try without the banana next time round as although there is only 1 it overpowers the taste
Day 4.Apricot Smoothie -I used tinned apricots, but it doesn't have much flavour...tastes a little like ice cream....maybe next time I should use fresh ones?

So far I don't feel much difference, but the month is young and it is only week one!

I have also been using my colour therapy book I got for Christmas.

I do enjoy me some colouring.

Do you have any smoothie recipes that you love ?

Neglecting the blog!

Oh dear. It's been a while and believe me I have been sewing like a mad woman on caffeine....Only without the caffeine!
I've been instagramming as its so much easier to snap a picture and post it for all to see...
I have returned to share some pictures of the progress made. I don't like how you can't take your own pictures to use from instagram off the internet....weird!!!
I've rambled enough take a look for yourselves..

I've been cake decorating with Father making this Cake for Mother dearest!

Layout done and being sewn for the BerryIndieRomance quilt! Love these fabrics!! Glad I have some leftover pieces...They could become a cushion cover....

Decided on the layout for the Citrus berry quilt and also already have a backing quilt fabric for that too...So practical me!

I then thought to myself I'm making all these quilts to be sold...But nothing for myself to keep. So I pulled out all my Lotta Jansdotter stash and set to work on a HST quilt of my very own...It's going to be big!!

This is the first one I made for myself..Plus quilt with a few thrown in extras...this lives in the front room downstairs and has served us well on the cold nights.

The back of the quilt was just a simple rail fence design. It seemed to cruel to make the bars any smaller. Had to show off those prints!!

I also made myself quite some time ago now a large zippered pouch. Which contains my stash of EPP!

I set to work on My Lotta quilt. Making HST's the easy way...... 130 blocks! 6" in size

I then joined a fun looking Instagram swap.....

I'll be sewing the quilt tops soon. Deciding on a layout for the Lotta quilt and Making further Purge projects

Colour Schemes- The Citrus Quilt

All blocks are cut, sewn ironed, trimmed....I just need to decide which layout to do.... I have sketched out some layouts using that oh so wonderful graph paper!
Which one would you go for??? 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

Keeping to my 3 quilts in progress is not enough.. nature I'm busy behind the scenes working on yet more projects...keeping busy is what I do best....All I can think about is sewing!!!

Colour Schemes -Berry

For this quilt I wanted to do something to really show off the prints. I was umming and ahhing for quite some time before deciding to do a Triangle Quilt.
I grabbed some cardboard, stationary, my sketch pad and notebook and got to work on the Quilty Maths
The templates (ignore ones to right....)

Quilt Maths

Quilt layout plans...

More Quilty Maths....
Then was onto cutting the fabrics. I realised I had some Triangles left over from my Wedge Cushions so I took a few of them to use to boost my fabric selection...

So many scraps left over..but I have something planned for those...

So all fabrics and plans for this quilt are under way..

Colour Schemes Blue, Orange and Grey

As I have said behind the scenes I've been working on a new Colour Project. The first one is Blue, Orange and Grey.
For this quilt I'll be using the Disappearing 9 patch pattern.

I found some graph paper whilst clearing out a few things in my room and so thought I'd put it to use in future projects when I want to see how a design will come together.
I also found a lined paper pad perfect for jotting ideas down in and having all the quilt math down on paper.. As you can see the quilt will be 3 x 4 blocks

I have finally cut into my stash of fabric after years of having it stowed away waiting to be used for just the right projects....
All the fabrics for this quilt have been cut and are waiting to be sewn.
I'll be making the blocks with 9" squares as I want a fairly large quilt. It seems a real shame to throw these strips away but some aren't thicker than an inch.. So for now I'm keeping them stored away.

This is as far as I've gotten. I hope to be able to put them together at the weekend. I may change the design above slightly once I have all the blocks cut and ready. I'll take pictures first to see which lay out I like best...

Quilt Colour Schemes part 2

Following on from Yesterday's Post I've been searching the internet for inspiration, flicking through magazines I had lying around as I was sure something about them caught my eye.

Some really grabbed my attention and then I decided to look through the 12 unopened packs of fabric from the two stash clubs I've joined. One is the Pink Castle Stash Stack Club and the other is the FabricShoppe Colour Your Stash Club. I then also found some other fabrics I had purchased that were already set in two colour ways.
After buying the latest copy of Love Patchwork and Quilting . Which is currently issue 10. I found some quilts I thought would go really well with the colour schemes I discovered.

Here are some colour combo's that will feature in my upcoming quilts and projects. The colours are just examples of the fabrics. Mind you I wont be using solids..... All fabrics however cane be found in the Fresh Modern Fabric Etsy Shop

The sketches for each project are already in progress. Templates have been made using some of my previous project designs. I thought about tutorials, but so many projects have been done, sold, chopped and changed, I thought why bother with the hassle.
I'll share the sketches once they are done. I even found graph paper to make them look all neat and professional...check me out! I bought some new colouring pencils and a ruler since mine broke in half....then I lost both halves....

So continue to watch this space.

Charmed I'm sure

2 posts in two days...a new record for me at the moment. I said I had some behind the scenes projects to show and here is the start of them. A few weeks before the operation... I thought I should probably start using my fabric rather than storing it in the few too little boxes I have. I thought start slow then work up to the FQ's.......... so Charm squares it was...

I did some rough sketches knowing at least the colour scheme to each quilt...RAINBOW!!!

I like making even numbers of things and two just didn't feel ambitious enough at the time, so it became four. I did in the end change around some of the fabrics to make the colours stand out a lot better. Those sketches soon became quilt tops.

I did consider adding a border to the top edge, but upon choosing the backing fabrics I decided not to.

I also found some other quilts that needed finishing...remember these?

My DP16 quilt tops. I made them about TWO years ago and never actually finished them as I was going to do just a plain backing. Then decided against it. They are also on the WIP pile to actually finish.

I even found some other quilts also from two years ago that when I looked at them I realised I could never sell them as the binding looks horrendous! I wouldn't even be happy to give them to anyone as a gift.

I am thinking to chop off the borders and binding and re-backing them in another fabric, with no binding what so ever...... The first quilt in the top picture is yet to be finished...I'm still hand quilting it...some two years on.......it seemed like a brilliant idea then........

Decisions decisions....I'm hoping for some finishes this month. I have the backing fabrics for the Rainbow quilts and the DP16 quilts..alls needing is to finish them off!!

Also to finish is another sneaky project....

*giggle* Told you I was on a roll....

So many pins so little time!

Work was a little less crazy today...though there was far more going through the warehouse to locate some solutions we had on order to go out! It's like a maze!  The guys are too funny. There was a box marked do not open or move, so the guys were all like "what if somethings been put inside the box and when we open it we get attacked!" I looked at them with that 'Yeah riiiighhhht' expression.

Back home was more relaxing in front of the TV....had I have gone online I would have seen that the deadline for the pin to win! had been changed to today!! By the time I got online I had an hour to get 30 pins!.....I didn't make it! I was 26 away....
Oh well I guess I'll have to buy myself the bundle like I was planning too..This price is cheaper than all others I've seen as well, so even better! A few other fabrics may just sneak in....

I made an attempt on some gift bags and totally made the biggest error! I know what I did wrong, but at the time it was too late to fix it! Good thing it was just the off cuts..

I then sewed together the strips I'd cut from my Christmas prints....Not too sure what this will end up as yet, I may make another with this same pattern, and try out the pouch thingy again...

Have started sketching up label designs using the trusty power point,.....

Then realised I probably won't be making that many quilts so I have to change some of the wording   any suggestions, maybe just my shop name, blog and a few care symbols? I thought making quilts was hard, but designing a label!!! Give me the quilt!

I'm working out pricing and trying to make a few more things. It's just when I get in from work I am so tired! I may use some of my upholstery weight fabric as backing for my things, like the cushion covers.
I may go with a theme to the items in my shop to make it a little more unique,  I'll see how it goes...I have some idea's in mind, just gotta sketch things out....and see if it's cost effective too....

Siya'll tomorrow =D
