Options.....Options and more Options!!

Work was Urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The colleague I liaise with was off so I had to fill in part of her work and keep going back and forth (not that I don't do that anyways) to print up the sheets to make the labels, then actually make the labels, deal with phone calls and then the dispatches! Then towards the end of the day there was a really rude woman on the phone who wanted to blame us for her parcel not being delivered as she wasn't in to collect it. Once it leaves our warehouse we have no control over it! We tried to help her, but she wasn't having any of it!!!
The biscuits went down well and my Bestie is taking them for her coffee morning tomorrow which Mother and I will be going to after shopping..

Back home was cutting fabric and auditioning ideas...that's where you guys come in. I'm going to be making some table runner/toppers but not to sure what style to go with.

There is option 1. I cut the 9 patch in half and flipped it to put two ends together. The sashing in the picture is not the sashing that will be on it, it's just for show..

Option 2 is the Disappearing 9 patch blocks end to end.

Option 3 is 2 D9 blocks at each end with a halved D9 patch in the centre.

Then just for fun I made a layout for a mini quilt using both sets of blocks....

With the four patch blocks I plan to make some hot pads. I just need to get some insulated batting. Shops with decent prices would be a great help if you know of any.

I could in theory go with all 3 designs just not too sure yet. Then I'll have to wait for the batting....once I order some that is.....

Also when I got in I noticed a parcel for me, not in it's usual place of the Ironing board!!
A cute name tag and some awesome fridge magnets courtesy of Leanne thanks to the RATZ Swap

Well I'm off to catch up on a few shows and possibly watch the film The Older Giant has been raving about all week!

Now you can all "Say Cheeeeeeeeeeeeese!!"

I took a day off from sewing and posting yesterday as work was soo crazy!! Over 300 labels to type up. print off and note down. I did get some help, but it was still a crazy amount! Luckily I got a break from answering the phone as that would have way eaten into the deadline time!

Today was a much better day labels wise only 100 or so to do. Customers were coming in for collections and repairs...luckily I didn't have to deal with them all *sly laugh* The phone complaints weren't too extreme. Though one guy was talking for England I think I tried to say bye to him at least 6 times!!
Getting home I needed a nap as I had a really bad headache so one hour later I got up and pulled out the Polaroid blocks I'd started with a mission to get them all finished! Of course there were some minor interruptions and I asked Mother to print a few recipes off for me....(well I asked for 1 she bought in 3...)

Whilst I was at the iron I got my Christmas fabrics all nicely pressed all ready to be cut....then I need to find that template....

Then I finished of my latest fairy. Now to sketch another custom one this time....

Say che.........

So still with the tidying bug I busted out our brand new vacuum cleaner and gave my floors and rug the once over. I can actually see that rug now! (it was a mess of fabric stringy bits and odd threads that didn't quite make it to the bin.....
Next weekend I really need to sort through my other things and have a good old clear out too! I have a lot of things that are 'out of sight out of mind' so why am I keeping them? I could use the space for my sewing things more practical things....

Ok well not quite to that title as my Polariod blocks are only part way done.

I also added some more colour into the wings of my latest fairy sketch. I also have one on custom request by a good blogging friend of mine!

I pulled out the Christmas prints today all ready to be ironed, cut and sewn into......*taps nose* you'll just have to wait and see.

Siya'll tomorrow =D

20 finishes!!

I'm so happy they are all done I love the way they look all stacked to one corner of my room! I must confess I really don't want to see them go. They are so gorgeous sitting there full of colour! I really will need to make up some for myself, like soon..maybe this weekend...I have some sashing left over.... The buttons though so tricky to put in I sprained my arm doing so!

Mind you the sprain did not stop me making up some scrappy log cabin blocks ready to be turned into coin purses. They have since been ironed I just need to trim them down.

I pulled out the odd scraps of Liberty prints I have to make up some more scrappy blocks too. I have 10 underway to make 5 purses

The Younger Giant assisted me in making dinner. Meat feast (ham, pepperoni and a burger fried and cut to pieces, then fried again) pizzas with pineapple. The corner with no pineapple is for the Older giant.....

This pizza is mine with my lactofree cheese which can be found in UK Tesco and Asda

Tonight I'm linking up with

There and Back

Shhhhhh it's a secret!

To start my morning I had mail rudely dropped on me placed nicely on me by the Older Giant...it was funny though as he tried to leave Father stepped in and blocked the doorway!

I got my RATZ Swap key fob from Marian-Lady Face plus some extra fabric scraps and an awesome card!

My Zakka style sewing kits are finally done! Once I get a label I'll sew them in.

I added my new pins to my new pincushion...who says we only need one!

Then I finished the quilt top for Father's secret birthday quilt! When I was cutting the backing he almost saw it. Luckily with speeds unknown I whipped it from the room and ran....well walked casually as not to draw suspicion to myself...

It is rather hard to cut things when he is in the house milling up and down the stairs at random times! I did manage to also cut the wadding. I'm hoping he pops out tomorrow so I can get the quilt pinned ready for quilting!

It was funny at dinner time there was a cat out in the garden. Mother was going to go out and scare it, however instead of running off in fright like they usually do this cat stayed and sat by the door looking at her expectantly. It was so cute! She didn't open the back door in the end and the cat sat there for a good 5 minutes before leaving.

I'm hoping to get more of the quilt done...at a loss on a new project to start..any ideas? Yes I have some quilting to do on 3 other quilts, but hey all in good time.

Siya'll tomorrow =D

P.s My picture just fell off the wall! I'll have to use some screws this time to hold it up! Curse those sticky pads!

Revenge of the Granny!

Today I woke early and started cutting fabrics. I'm planning on making a Quilt for Father..It will be a giant Granny Block quilt....6 blocks 4" squares used.  I really should of taken a picture of the fabrics, but he was lurking and I don't want him to see any of it!

After breakfast and the usual morning stuff I got to work on sorting all projects to do for the day.
My leather cord arrived in the post so I was able to finish the last 4 Zakka Style Sewing Kits I started on. Here are all so far. I'm waiting on my stamps to arrive so they and the pincushions can be completed. (Once I stuff the pincushions that is....)

I must confess I made a huge error in sewing the final 4. I stitched the wadding in wrong!

Left is how it should be. Right is how I sewed it! Instead of unpicking the whole thing. I just unpicked the top along the gap edge. Turned it right side out. Cut off the wadding as close to the edge as humanely possible...turned it inside out and sewed it on the right way! Luckily I didn't loose too much from the wadding so it still fit pretty evenly...(with some light stretching) The Younger Giant came in to laugh at my mistake!

The sewing kits so far. Fabrics used are from FabricShoppe and SurlySheep. Linen from Fresh Stash

I really need to take a picture of the pincushions....

Then I got to work on sashing my appliqued blocks. They need to be trimmed, but no hurry there.

Then the second Giant Granny block for the pillows for Danny. I just need to raid through my stash for some backing fabrics.

As I mentioned yesterday...after being tempted to keep one I had to make one for myself. Pulling out my MAM prints I did! Loving these prints! Some from swaps with other awesome bloggers.

Then I trimmed down the scrappy charm blocks that have been sitting on my laptop case for a while now..

I had to trial making magnets to test the strength of the ones I bought....(no the table is not magnetic)..I will take a picture of them on my board tomorrow...my camera battery decided it would choose that moment to die!

I started cutting the fabrics for the GIVEAWAY items...which I have only 2 days to make.... We're going out Friday through Saturday afternoon.(though knowing my Father it may be Saturday evening!) Travelling to Sheffield for a party thing....I'll be taking some hand sewing with me..four hour car drive is not my idea of fun!

Well as I mentioned the camera battery died..so for now the fabrics will remain a mystery....=D

Attack of the Monster Granny!

So I was blog reading yesterday and came across this

This time round Danny needs pillow covers 20x20". I pitched in to make two. At first I wondered what pattern I could use that would be big enough. Then I remembered seeing this post from Katy for a Giant Granny and well it was the right size! I delved into my Charm box and got to work. I've done one pillow top so far. The other is the same prints only a different backing and center colour and will have a different layout.
Here is the first at the moment.
It's so gorgeous..I was tempted to keep it for myself like you have no idea! Then Remembered the great cause it's going to and was fine to eventually send it away (I'll just make one extra for myself...I need a bigger pillow for my sewing chair..MAM prints here I come)

Though before all that sewing I actually did some applique work first. Mainly because I knew it would take a while and would also take time to dry from all the fusing.
I didn't use bondaweb.....I used hemming web. I bought some wide hemming web and used that along with the thinner strip one to stick the pieces down.
I had to use a dab of glue to hold them in place, but it worked out.
I laid a wet cloth over the whole block and fused it slowly. It worked out eventually after much steaming and re-wetting the cloth.

Once they were dry I stitched down the sashing I had pinned to give me a rough idea on the space I could use without going over any of the pieces. I'll add the next 2 strips of sashing tomorrow. Fabrics used are from my stash...which reminds me..(must update my page this weekend)

I also sashed the 'Scrapbook' Blocks and my smaller Granny Block (3" Squares used)

6 blocks down....um when I decide how many I want X amount to go...It'll be around the 15-20 range. I think I'll add another Granny Block to the collection....and a scrappy one too
Suggestions for other blocks will be greatly appreciated (my blocks are 11x11.5")

Well tomorrow I have things to post as the bank holidays are over! My GIVEAWAY IS HERE and if you don't win you can swap for some awesome GOODIES =D
