A whole lot of WIP's

So far I have managed to finish 3 of the 5 quilt tops I've been working on these past few months. If you follow me on Instagram @ibecheraldine you would have seen the progress....been bored to tears with pictures and laughed (possibly) at the shear randomness. I've also managed to catch some destashes and gotten myself some good fabric scores!! I subscribed to the Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine!!

So here are some pictures of the progress so far

The Berry Triangle Quilt top is now completed. I added one more row to the bottom/top as it was a little too short before. I’ve also got a backing fabric for it too. I’m using a duvet cover as you get soo much more fabric...I’m keeping the pillow cases for myself.....

The backing was bought on sale.. It's also reversible so I can use the other side for another quilt in the future. I’m still deciding whether or not to bind this quilt...I really can’t be bothered to make any.... Maybe I should just buy it ready made so all I have to do is sew it on.....

The Citrus Quilt top is also complete...It came out much larger than I expected...No need for extra rows here! Again I may buy some binding to around it...or I'll go with the pillow case method and quilt it.... The backing was also bought on sale! Took me ages to find something I liked enough.....

The Orange, Grey and Blue quilt top also complete. Once again not sure whether to bind or not...any volunteers to make a whole load for me? I'll send you the fabric!
The backing duvet cover lol! Caught my eye.....was also on sale and I thought would be different from what I'd normally go for.

With me being me and believing too many projects can never be enough I pulled out some more fabrics....But not just any fabrics.....
These are fabrics from Pat Bravo-Indie, Rock and Romance..... And Joel Dewberry-Notting Hill
I knew I wanted to make a HST quilt and these fabrics sung to me! The quilt backing sung to me also and was purchased when I found the backing for the Citrus quilt.

Then I went back to my purge fabrics as I need more projects on the go!! I've been flicking through my issues of Love Patchwork and Quilting for inspiration and have a few dozen ideas... So far............I've cut off the selvedges.....

Watch this space!

Fabric advice please

Hi everyone, I need some fabric advice.....

I haven't been around for sometime and have missed all the years fabric lines. Have you bought any fabric recently that was just too good to miss? Also I am looking to buy a jelly roll, but I have no idea what shop offers the best deals and the latest lines. I usually shop on Etsy or I check other sites out on the web. Any particular shops you buy from online?

If you have any shops or sites please let me know...

Bye for now

What have I been up to??

You may have read yesterday that I had some things to share with you as to what I've been up to in my week away from blogging. I suppose the main thing has been catching up on some movie watching....TV watching and then of course Work takes up best part of the day!

So onto the pictures...

On the 7th I celebrated my 23rd Birthday! I got a great stash of art goodies and ordered myself some fabric which is yet to arrive. We celebrated mostly on the 6th. I also got some LABELS!!!  Not long until things are set in motion now...

I've been working on more Christmas goodies and have gotten back into card making. I pulled out some old supplies as well as using my new ones to whip up some cards. These are just a few I've made so far...

I also wanted to make myself a larger quilt for my Birthday...but the fabrics didn't arrive in time for me to do the back. I did though get the top completed and stuck to my original sketch! The back however will be totally different to the sketch....

I also started on some Christmas tree decorations...I just have to finish those off once I decide how  want them to look that is....

The framework for the shop is all done. Just got to add in the items! I need to get a memory card and Father will be taking the pictures....Only he insists I need props.....hmmmmmmm

Siya'll tomorrow! =D

Pieced to meet you!

This is yesterday's post, for some reason it didn't publish!

So today was my first day at work!

It was a good day, everyone was really friendly and helpful. I was put on labels for the majority of the day as there was a big delivery and most of the things were to be shipped out from it today. I'm not quite sure how many labels I had to make possibly over 150...
Then I sorted some dispatches for the last hour and a half. The company deals with varies household appliances and major companies dealing with them. We sort out shipping, and returns. It's a confusing process which I'll eventually get used to.

Getting back home I felt kind of blah...mainly as I have no current sewing projects on the go that aren't for me. I need to think up some things to make for the few hours before dinner.
I got my paper pieced blocks sewn up with a few errors and miscalculations of fabric!

All nice and unironed or trimmed (I didn't have the chance before dinner)

I also coloured the sketch for my quilt pattern, which took a little longer than expected.

It possibly needs more green, but too late now I'm not changing it! I'm hoping it works out better than the first MAM quilt I made it's a simple piecing design so it should go smoothly.

Well I should be getting to bed....

Siya'll tomorrow =D

MAM2 in progress..the Sneak Peak

I spent the better part of today sprawled in the front living room. I sketched out my quilt idea then thought OK now I need to fill in the colours....Father was occupying my usual workspace (his bed lol!) so I trailed downstairs, piles of fabric in hand.
I thought up a few idea's either random patchwork or an actual design. In the end I chose the plus quilt only my version is slightly different from the normal construction as I mostly wanted to use my Echo prints for the pluses, I had to use 4 of my Madrona  Road prints too (make note I don't have the whole collection of either. 16 Echo and 6 Madrona Road from the citrus colourway)

These 3 panels will go on the back of the quilt along with some paper pieced blocks.
These first two will sit either side of the block with a neutral print above and below them

The block will be halved (2 x 3) and go above and below the pieced blocks with a solid print above/below them.

I just have to colour in the pattern for reference when it comes to sewing as this will be bigger than any quilt I've made in the past.

Shockingly I have no other projects on the go! I'm not sure what I'll make next...any idea's?

Tomorrow I start a new job! I'm thinking as to weather I should pack up some lunch now or wait till morning...it shouldn't take too long just sandwiches to make.....

Siya'll tomorrow =D

Eye Spy with my little Eye...

So today we went on a fun train journey to go on the London Eye!! Father actually came with us for once as he usually stays home when we go anywhere!!!
We had to hop on a number of trains before reaching Waterloo. We had to queue in a long line to get out tickets then we were ushered into the 4D experience show. The Younger Giant did not want to go inside and refused to put on his glasses when we were in the theatre. The show was OK, they had water and bubbles spraying at you as you watched the show, as well as some mist swirling around your legs....
We then walked quickly to grab a place in line for the London Eye (I'm pretty sure Mother cut in front of someone...) It started to rain slightly as we were going up the longer queue, there was a bag  check then a little 5 min wait then we were in the pod at 11.30am. Since it was raining it was hard to get decent pictures without the rain drops being in them too! I even forgot my memory card for my camera and so had to take pictures with my phone...not amused the zoom feature is terrible!!!
Here are a few snaps to see the rest check out My Flickr set

My Momma, The Younger Giant, Father and the Older Giant

We got back home around 3ish as Father wasn't up for much walking. Mother wanted to go on the Ducktours bus, but the next available time was 2 hours away so we left there and got the train back. She said she'd book for us to go on there another time.
We also booked to go and see the new Spiderman movie on Wednesday at our local cinema.

I finally finished those Liberty scrappy log cabin blocks here are a few of them. I have started to cut some lining fabric for the rainbow blocks.....not too sure what to line these ones with as my linen is almost done =C

I'm also working on a quilt design to use my Echo prints.  I'm saving to get the Bella prints to go with them as they will all look awesome together. I really need to work on some swap items!!!

Siya'll tomorrow =D

Guess who has two thumbs and more happy mail......

THIS GIRL!

I really didn't even expect to be getting mail everyday this week, but oddly that's how things have been turning out....I'll have to wait and see how tomorrow morning turns out.
However I didn't open my parcels as soon as I got back home...oh no....Instead I pulled out some fabrics to make some more GIVEAWAY (open till tomorrow midnight) goodies...only they're a surprise so I'll just show you this sneak. Funny of my 101 followers only 21 have entered......

Now onto the happy mail! I mentioned I have been searching the high fabric shops for Echo prints  I found some on an Etsy shop called The Tin Thimble to add to my collection. I just need 4 more prints and my collection will be completed! (The Florine in brass and dusted plum, choma golden rod and lena rugged suede)

Then my 112 Charms from the 'What was I thinking?' fabric swap

Please note I didn't properly separate out all 112 charms....

Then I got ironing for part 2 of the secret project...the banister is an excellent fabric holder! The strips to the right are not part of the project, they will be cut down for charms.

I then got to work on my Mothers birthday presents. The first being a cushion cover I started a while back for her by request...I ripped off th unpicked the backing (which wasn't the correct size in the first place) and the borders that I had put on there and picked out some strips from my scrap draw to use instead...I'll post a picture when the top is completed. The size will boosted from 14" to 18" now. The backing is going to be black and grey, as opposed to the blue it once was.
I just need to think of a few more things to make her. She's not really a zippered pouch using woman.....I made her a tissue pouch for Mothers Day.....any suggestions would be welcome.

Tomorrow I'll be working on some more GIVEAWAY goodies and cutting into all those strips....as well as making dinner (homemade pizza!!!)

Siya'll tomorrow =D

July Review!!

So wow it's August already! Which means I have to get my skates on to make Mother an awesome birthday present. (its rather annoying that all family birthdays are in consecutive months!)

After losing my sewing mojo I still got a lot of hand sewing done.
Here is my July mosaic

I also got some swap items made and sent off. Sorted out my stash. Made some flower brooches. Worked on some sketches to help with colour inspiration and started up a secret project.

Today I got even more happy mail!! I am loving this week!!
My fabulous bundle of fabrics came from my new favourite shop Pink Castle Fabrics! The quilt dad blogger bundle as well as some of those gorgeous Madrona Road prints and a Tula print that snuck in...

I also got more progress done with part two of the secret project...I just have to iron all those pieces!

These will go into making some strip blocks, all 1" wide pieces

I'm linking up with
Lily's Quilts

Siya'll tomorrow =D

That really lazy day.....

It's Sunday so we wake up late, eat brunch then chill out for the rest of the day.

Father got me another load of fabrics. Which I'll take pictures of. Just a not to say it's Christmas themed...so for anyone out there making Christmas items I'll have fabric to swap....there are meters/yards of it!! (not all the same print. Though there are yards of green/red fabric!!)

So on my lazy day. I watched the TV!! Threw some clothes into the scary washing machine. Honestly if you weren't used to it you'd think it was breaking down or about to explode! Plus I'm pretty sure its pushed itself even further back into the space it sits in.

I watched a movie that was on TV Disney Channels, 'Let It Shine'  definitely worth the watch if you're into musicals..mind you most of you in in America so it's probably and old movie by now!

Then I got my hexies from yesterday all cut and ironed

yes this picture is recycled i forgot to take a pic after ironing...being lazy remember...
Then I made a slow start on the larger ones

I've done more than just those 2 like 3 of these fit on the thread I cut...I must say larger hexies are trickier to baste!

I even chilled out after dinner watching TV with Mother and the Older Giant....I had to go investigate what happened to the Younger Giant....he was napping....or was until I suggested I'd tickle him. Crazy boy! Father is down/up in London.
So a nice quiet day. On a plus note I found some Echo Fabrics on Etsy at RockPaperScissorsNJ Happy dance! You wouldn't believe the amount of shops I looked through to find them! I still need to acquire the rest....

Well I'm back to 'work' tomorrow

Siya'll then =D
