200th post and 101 followers Giveaway!!

Today was a really mixed day! I went to my 2 week appointment thing only to miss the bus...then realised I forgot my papers so had to rush back home and get them and just about caught the next bus. I still arrived on time, but the people kept me waiting half an hour! I was not amused when the  Lady tried to act like it was my fault, if they don't tell you correctly where you should go then how is that m fault. I nodded silently when she spoke to me not wanting to vent my anger at her.
I left and went to buy a few things in town. On the bus ride to 'work' I fell asleep on the bus and missed my stop by like 3 stops!! I had to quickly jump of the bus and wait for the bus in the other direction to go back. I was sure to stay awake then.
At 'work' I was asked to go to the shops and buy a thank you card....I hate card shopping...to much choice and never the card you really want. I picked one and they loved it so job done! I then had to cut 1000 leaflets (luckily there was a guillotine) then photocopy another 1000....by that time is was closing so only 852 were done....on Monday I'll make up the rest....then cut those too.....

Back home I lazed watching TV then made dinner. Which was lasagna...I know I don't often mention food, but this turned out like it looks on the picture on the jar. Today was a Dolmio day!

I'm still in shock! I've only actually been blogging since THIS February! I think I've written on this blog almost everyday. To me it's more like an interactive journal, with the cool addition of pictures and the links to various pages.
I love that I can look over the posts I've written in the past and see what I was up to months later. My blogging style has changed after reading some advice guides. I'll be looking into making my blog even better with a cool banner...once I figure out how I want it to look that is.....

I'm getting back to using Jano in addition to all the hand sewing I've been doing lately. So I will whip up some mystery items for 3 lucky followers.

I'm too tired......ask me later.......

OK so now is slightly later...by mere minutes lol! I say this a lot when the Giants ask me something it's always so funny....They wait seconds then ask me again, those crazy boys....(though due to their ages they can be classed as men) The younger giant will be 18 this year!! He's growing up so fast...Literally! Poor boy can barely fit through doorways (he is 6ft something possibly 7 or 8). Father suggests we put him outside. I suggested we get him a tent at least!

My morning at 'work' was rather busy! YAY! I had to write up some letters and email them. Then print some off to post for the people on the list that did not provide email addresses. Then I had to call another set of people to remind them of a catch-up session for this Friday...that was funny one guy kept me on the phone for a good few minutes not grasping what I was trying to tell him! I had a trip to the post office. Outside was sooo hot. Luckily I bought a bottle of ice water with me, and some snacks. (dried fruit)

Back home I took some pictures of the fabric that came in the post this morning courtesy of Flickr and some quick snaps of my hexies after they were ironed..yes ironed it had to be done! As well as the smaller hexies and my diamonds.... Then my camera battery died...

 My hexie sizes are 2" and 1 3/4" The diamonds are 2". All cut from my own paper, that was fun..I'll have to search out my tutorial and add it to the page.

Then inbetween book reading I continued on with the long overdue quilting on the last charm quilt!

I have the rest of the row to complete...then I can bind it and the quilt will finally be finished and can join it's friends.

I'm really hoping tomorrow cools down! This heat is killing me. At least me nose was better behaved today.

Quilty Little Secret!

This morning I had to get up early (BAH!) and leave the house to go into town. The upside I went out for Lunch with the Older Giant to The Toby Carvery. We printed off a voucher so we could get our meals slightly cheaper. Though the actual price is decent. The main meal is £5.95, drinks and such are extra. They carve your meat for you then you can take unlimited veg, Yorkshire puddings(which are huge!) and stuffing. We went for the kingsize option which is £1.50 extra. You get more meat and 2 chipolata sausages. Now I wish I had bought my camera with me!

I got all the packages I needed to send off posted! So whoever I owe a package too in less than two weeks expect something through your mail box.

Upon getting home I was distracted reading a book, which I had bought with me for the bus journey. I was hand quilting then reading, then back to hand quilting. I had only 2 blocks left to do, but with the reading it took a while to finish.

I actually really love this quilt and am glad it will be staying in the house! The prints took me sometime to get(after a missing order)...which you can find on this page. All I have to do is the binding and make a label to go on the back, then convince the Giants to sign it..and Mother....

Hand quilting is actually really relaxing. One day I'll try using Jano for this job, but until that day comes it's the good old needle and Perle.

Procrastination and Me...

You may read my blog and think "Wow she makes a lot!" Which is probably true to say....though the real truth is I procrastinate and awful lot inbetween.

I can get easily distracted by the TV if something good is on. Today it was a movie on the Disney Channel, I just had to watch it!

Anyhoo before all the procrastinating I got some cool things in the mail!

Firstly a badge I won in a giveaway over at Waggonswest, perfect for my procrastinating problem.

Then I saw Collette's camera cases and just had to have one. She made me a custom order in her shop, using green Chevron fabric. (please pretend the phone is a camera.) This will be coming with me tomorrow on my travels 

 I got the Giant Granny Pillows for Danny and one for myself too finished...Hers are in an envelope ready to go to the post office tomorrow along with everything else. The weather today was awful! I even have a label I got from Spoonflower attached on the inside. The first four pictures are of the pilllow covers for Danny, the others 2 are of mine. 

The fabric for the backing was in my wardrobe waiting to be used...the floral is some Father got which is home dec weight.

Then the movie interrupted for like a good hour and a half......then TV got in the way too. It wasn't until 6 ish I got back to sewing....

I made another pouch for my GIVEAWAY. The zip turned out great! I added my label in the bottom too.  I started made some scrappy blocks to turn into pincushions. They will be backed with a charm square. It's my own pattern used. Remind me to make a tutorial for it someday. 

They need to be ironed actually. I'll have to finish them on Sunday as I have no idea what time we'll be back on Saturday. We're all off to Sheffield for a surprise party (for a relative I'm sure I've never met) then staying at my Uncles in Leicester overnight and through Saturday, afternoon/evening...My Father is not a man of snappy decisions...

I'll be taking with me these pouches 

Sewing gear....pins, thread, needles, pincushion.

A Heart to Heart

So I really wanted to get those two D16 quilts finished today. I even woke up earlier than usual...mainly to sort out the things I had to take to the post office.
I've now sent off my MSM Swap item  and the package for the ALFALC-I don't think I'll sign up next month for this swap.
I'm looking to join some more item swaps. I'm in the RATZ and have joined up to the Modernista Homemade. I like making items and trying new things.

So instead of finishing the quilts I was drafted to sew up some fabrics from the box Father got Yesterday. All the floral prints. I did manage to save a few pieces from being cut, the others are now in 2" strips..perfect for making postage stamps...or log cabins..or quite a few other blocks. The lengths vary from 5-10" Though I had to cut them down to match for some of the blocks I made.

Here are the hearts. I made five...I didn't actually want to make them to be honest. I'm pretty sure hearts are seasonal, but perhaps I'm wrong? My Father insists they're in fashion....

I have a lot more strips and scraps from cutting the hearts...to be honest I don't have the heart-sorry had to be done!- to make anymore.. They are to be turned into cushions/pillows....Even Mother isn't sold on the idea...

So that's what I did today....as well as blog reading and commenting like a crazed lunatic!

Say Cheese Granny!

Today was a goooooood day!

First off I woke up and saw a pile of parcels on my table! (I didn't even hear my door open) I resisted opening them and went to start my routine.
After the routine I went with Father to the post office. Some lucky Ladies will be receiving some fabric in the mail...one the RATZ Swap item....which I just remembered I didn't take a finished picture of before sending it!! DoH!
Upon returning I opened my parcels

In picture order
1&2 -Perle cotton from Thread Art $0.99 each! Which is £0.62p they were on sale! so I got 14 different colours. I had more in the basket, but scaled it down!.....Strangely big box which was filled with paper over thread!
3,4,5&6- The package from Zipit. I love the cute tape they put on the parcel. I peeled that off and stuck it on the inside of my new tin! On the back they stamped the cute rainbow monkey!! I ordered 25 8" and 5" zips in some gorgeous rainbow shades! All ready to make pouches.
7-Fabric received in a swap with Steph-Hope Sewing is Genetic. Navy Pezzy print-American Jane and some random charms.
8-Fabric swapped for in the Fugly Fabric Party with Debbie-A Quilters Table. Backyard Friends by Whimsicals for Red Rooster and My Mind's Eye by Riley Blake
9. My new tin filled with notions ans sewing accessories!


Then I decided to take some time out and do some sewing for myself
