Shopping, sewing and surprises!

We will start with the surprise....I got a package dropped on me this morning, buy The Older Giant. However I didn't open it until I got back in from shopping with Father. So more on the surprise later.

The shopping. After food shopping we took a trip to a General store selling practically everything you could think of (minus fridge or frozen stuff) at budget prices under one roof. I picked up two duvet sets that caught my eye to use as backing for my WIP quilt tops and a piece for the MSM Swap item I'm making.
The look better in real life I assure you. I've cut the fabric and pinned it to my two Granny quilt tops (no picture of the pinning but here are the tops) There is sashing around the edges, this is an old picture

We were then summoned to the garden by father to clean it up a bit. Father had cut down a load of branches, from the tress and pulled out some the weeds our job (The Giants and I) was to sweep, bin and burn the twigs etc...we all stunk of burning..took a while for the smell to ware away, but luckily it did!-I much rather prefer the planting and BBQ's held in the garden as opposed to cleaning it up!

Then I got on with sewing the item for my RATZ Swap partner. It's rather scrappy, but that's the look I was aiming for. I just hope she likes  loves it.

Now back to the surprise...I swapped some fabric with my good blogging friend Cameron waiting for it to arrive in the post and Today it arrived . She added some goodies in too, some cute note-cards and gift tags

Also in the mail but not today, I joined in with many others and got this!
I have to apparently modify it before I can use it. Fun times!
Well that's all from me today! Tomorrow I may have more things finished....Oh more importantly my Mother gets back from holiday tomorrow!! =D

Welcome to Summersville-Population 17!!

Oh yes that's right! I was reading and commenting through my blog list and got to Lucie's (only the designer of Summersville fabric) she said she was adding some prints to her UK Etsy store! So of course I sped over there and asked for a custom listing, for 17 of her prints!-She even wrote a note to go with them =D
As well as that arriving today I got my Embroidery thread, so now I can finish off that last charm quilt and finish/start some swap items. Plus some swap fabric from Marika. It was a great mail day

As well as cutting into all that fabric to add to my charm stash. I cut some background fabric, ready to make some giant grannies seen here on Katy's Blog. I'm out tomorrow so will be searching for some (much needed) backing fabrics!-I would use fabrics from my stash, but I'd rather have some larger fabric for backing as opposed to FQ's
Also today I got some sewing done, of the machine and hand kind 8 little scrappy pincushions 4" squares. I had the squares ready cut it was just a matter of sewing them together. (since march I've had them cut!)

I love them, so cute. The fabrics match in a strange way...well to me they do. More items for the stock pile. They are such fun to make. I'd like to make up some others so if anyone has any tutorials, I'd love to see them. Thanks in advance.
I'm also looking for some linen, so if anyone knows of any good (and reasonably priced) sites please post here. =D

2ND Day in and 5 finishes!

I'm actually really happy and relived to have these done and out of the way! What am I talking about, oh sorry thought I'd mentioned them a dozen times in previous posts. ;-)
Well those 3 charm quilts I've been hand quilting over the past week. plus two pillow covers I started and never got round to finishing until now inspired by the Craft Buds sew-along.

Prints from Aneela Hoey in the fist pillow and the Second is a random mix of prints which can be found on my Bought Fabrics page. (those are not Kona solids, but the ones bought from the market)

Each quilt is approx 25" square..I'll measure them properly when I remember....
There is one more charm quilt, but I'm still waiting for the Perle cotton to arrive....the binding is made....the backing is on....waiting is such agony!
Now I can focus on the rest of my WIP pile....another shocker is that I attached the binding with Jano's help! The pleats on the pillows done by Jano! No protesting or anything! He's like an new machine!
I just need to find some large enough fabrics for the backs of my Granny quilts and soon to be made DP16....Not sure whether or not I want a pieced back or a whole print....we'll see...=D
